Glynde Place

Glynde Place, home to the VIIth Viscount and Viscountess Hampden, is a magnificent Elizabethan manor house sitting high on the Sussex Downs, looking out over the weald.


Founded in 1934 by John Christie and his opera singer wife, Audrey Mildmay, Glyndebourne is committed to presenting opera of the highest quality, commissioning new work, developing new talent and reaching new audiences. Crucially, Glyndebourne has remained financially independent since 1934

Charleston was the home and country meeting place for the writers, painters and intellectuals known as the Bloomsbury group. The interior was painted by the artists Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell, and together with their collection forms a unique example of their decorative style. Situated in East Sussex, the house and gardens are now closed to the public until March 27th 2013.
